Lmartin People Association Joins the Yiaku 9th Annual Pilgrimage & Cultural Celebration 2025

On 10th of October 2025, The Lmartin People Association proudly joined the Yiaku community in celebrating the 9th Annual Pilgrimage and Cultural Celebration, a powerful event that brought together communities, partners, and cultural custodians to honor tradition, unity, and the environment.
This year’s gathering at Kurikuri Primary School in Doldol was not only a celebration of the Yiaku heritage but also a platform for building stronger ties among indigenous and local communities in Laikipia. Standing in Solidarity with Culture and Conservation. Members of the Lmartin People Association walked side by side with the Yiaku elders, youth, and partners. Retracing ancestral routes and reaffirming the shared connection to land, culture, and nature.
Through dance, storytelling, and poetry in the Yiakunte language, participants were reminded of the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge systems. The Lmartin delegation also joined in the tree-planting exercise led by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Kenya Forest Service (KFS), symbolizing unity in environmental conservation.
> Celebrating Heritage and Partnership
For the Lmartin People Association, participation in this event reflected a deep commitment to cultural preservation, environmental responsibility, and community collaboration. The association believes that culture and conservation go hand in hand and when communities come together with one vision, great things happen.
> A Shared Vision for the Future
The Yiaku 9th Annual Pilgrimage reaffirmed that heritage is not just about the past it is the foundation for a sustainable future. As the Lmartin People Association continues to work with local partners, it remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that protect indigenous traditions, promote education, and nurture the environment for generations to come.
